Thanks to a buyer [not a Security Engineering buyer] for her post about battery failure and watch band sticking to cardboard: Based upon her observations I am now opening watches with a batch number of CKP10111 and a manufacture Date of July 2010 and checking them before shipment. She correctly identified a problem with the watches that must have been exposed to excessive heat during transportation. This did cause the watch band to stick to the cardboard in places where there was contact and also probably pressure. I found that Goo Gone and some elbow grease (lots of rubbing with a tissue wet with Goo Gone) will remove the paper stuck to the watch. It also shines the watch. This is probably more work than the cost of buying another watch, but I am going to do it for the watches I sell at Security Engineering as part of my weight reduction exercise program. Also, thanks to her I am now testing the batteries and replacing the ones that don't test at the proper voltage with new ones before shipment. I know that two of six have dim displays which means that the batteries are weak. The same heat that caused the watches to stick to the package also probably had moisture and the combination of heat and moisture caused the batteries to deteriorate. (I am an electrical engineer and know that the best storage environment for batteries is sealed in the freezer. Heat and humidity are the worst possible combination for these watches.) Finally, the watches should be set on adjust mode so that the watch is not actively expending energy changing the display. This could run the battery down prematurely. Security Engineering checks to make sure that it doesn't ship watches in running mode. The watches can be activated by pressure on the buttons during shipment if they are not packed properly. Again this is why your choice of seller is important if you want to have a happy camper kid!
